About Uni Marcano Umi Marcano (born May 19th, 1988) was born and raised in the small town of St James, Trinidad. Umi's career began at the Richmond Street Boys School where he joined the school's choir and eventually began entering competitions. Even though his passion was R&B, Umi decided to enter the school's Calypso competition to showcase his talent as an entertainer and he eventually emerged as the champion!!! Umi Marcano later became the Synergy TV Soca Star 2007 winner. The Trinidadian born Soca/R&B artist, dancer and songwriter rose to fame in 2007 after winning the American Idol-like Trinidad "Synergy TV Soca Star" contest. Umi is a pure product of the T&T R&B/soca scene! His hit song "Move that body" hit local airwaves, with hits such as "Turn It Around" and "Flava for Love" which scored internationally on Vh1's Flavor of Love TV show, following shortly after.
